Tai Chi for Fibromyalgia

New research published in the New England Journal of Medicine is offering hope to sufferers of fibromyalgia with their findings that practicing the ancient art of Tai Chi could be an effective treatment.

Fibromyalgia is a very common presentation in clinic. It is a condition that causes pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendons. It also affects the sleep patterns of the sufferer. It can be a source or fatigue, and depression with the usual treatment painkillers, antidepressants and muscle relaxants often have little effect.

Tai Chi provides physical exercise which improves the condition. Tai Chi not only improves physical fitness, but also helps the practitioner with increased confidence and psychological well-being.
